First off, Happy Mother's Day to Mumsy!!! Mom threw her back out yesterday, so she is home today instead of working. But we had all planned on her celebrating it next week when she didn't have work, so we hadn't gotten her present yet. We're still planning it thus. None of us had time to get something late last minute last night when we found out she'd be home. I don't know what Mike, Jack, and Dad were doing, but Sarah and I had work alllllll day.
Sarah and I worked the Matinee show which started at 2:30. Sarah also had Mandarin at 4:45. Her last cue to move stuff on the stage happens about 10-15 minutes before the end of the show....we estimated around....4:45. So she was dressed completely in mandarin stuff (with the mandarin shirt hanging in my car), and we took a gamble. It got to be 4:30, and I thought we had a good 15 minutes before her last cue, which I thought she should play it safe and call in to say she'd be 5 minutes late. Sarah being Sarah though, decided that wouldn't look good. So I sat up in the booth, doing my sound stuff, while also looking at the clock every minute or so. I was inwardly hoping the actors would talk faster. Well the last set piece got moved on around 4:35-4:36, and it had to stay on for two 3 minute songs and a little dialogue. So around 4:42-4:43, as soon as the song transition and the stage blackout occured, I saw the set piece get moved into darkness, and I kept praying to myself, "RUN SARAH!!!!"
Sarah being the gal that she is, clocked in at the Mandarin at 4:45. Bravo old chap!!! Anyways. I had about half an hour between the Matinee and the night show. Got back and ran it again, and got some japanese stuff done during some long bits where I didn't have much to do. After the show, when I finished putting all of the mics away, 4-5 of the crew, and 10-15 of the cast, stuck around and we had a karaoke night!
It was awesome, since mostly everyone could sing. Around midnight, when everyone was leaving, Sarah quietly said we should stick around so Sarah could sing a song or two when no one was here. So once the actors were gone, and with the few crew people who wanted to stay, Sarah sang AWESOMELY. She sang a song from 9-5, we sang a song from Wicked, I sang with Javin from Moulin Rouge, Javin sang from Moulin Rouge, and a few more songs were sung as well. For the most part we all were just having fun singing, but honestly Sarah is the crew member with the pipes. Brava!!! Magnifica!!!! Stupenda!!!
It was amazingly fun to be in charge of the theater for Karaoke, and to have the power to stay later to indulge our desires to sing to an empty theater. We had lighting and everything...it was AWESOME!
