Switzerland

Italy and Switzerland were both AMAZING. But they were both completely different kinds of AMAZING, which was so strange to transition to so quickly.

Liz had a friend who hooked us up with 2 nights at some lodge in the Swiss Alps. We didn't look up anything about it, we just took her word for it and swoosh off we went.

We had to switch from Euros to Swiss Francs, everything got ridiculously expensive, and the mountains went into steep mode.
And apparently they are working on a UFO prototype or something.

Steep steep STEEP.

They just kept getting bigger.

While driving, Dewy kept joking that the lodge was going to end up being some guy's garage, and he'd come out and meet us wearing a wife-beater. Dewy and Liz had looked up stuff about the place, but I had no idea where or what the place would look like.

We made it to the Jungfrau region! I kept thinking of lyrics from a musical where they talk about singing by the Jungfrau (J sounds like Y). Well…the only singing I could possibly imagine here would be a good yodel. Or I guess it's Jodel. …Apparently there's a Jungfrau theme park.

We passed many a pipeline.

I love the houses, they're beautiful! Although there were so many insanely high cliffs people were putting their houses on.

very jaw dropping.

When we got to Grindelwald, the boys were ecstatic about being able to move about.

Hotel Kirchbuhl. Turns out it's a collection of little chateaux in the middle of the freaking huge alps.

Well…it turns out that Liz has a very verrrrrry nice connection. We were given the Mozart Suite. There was another suite on the second floor, but no one was occupying it, so we had the whole thing to ourselves. I think everyone was in shock at how nice it was.

We had a private underground garage, a floor activated elevator...

Forgot to take a pic of the kitchen behind that fireplace.

3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms

An entire floor of balcony space. It was one of those moments where you look around all googly-eyed, thinking to yourself, "wwwooooooowwwww". We found out that during the off season (which we arrived during), our suite cost around $700 a night. WOW.

We went down to the main lodge restaurant for dinner. Twas expensive, but since the housing was free, we splurged. We didn't take pics of the food, but it was amazing. We got a cheese platter, where you went into a room with cheese blocks and got to choose from like 20 cheeses we'd never heard of. And of course, you can't go to Switzerland without having some Swiss cheese.

Mom, thank you for leaving the converters. We needed them.

Swiss chocolate!

I figured what better time to try Apple Strudel. So I took it out to the balcony and gave it an overly dramatic "Strudel in the ALPS" shot. Everything we did here needed a "-in the ALPS." added to the end of it, it felt so crazy to be there. We kept looking out the window, surprised at how close the mountains were. So steep!

Swiss Francs

Hut Hike!

Legs.

Every night we ended up playing cards and simultaneously playing games that revolved around refraining from saying words like "the" or "are".

Dewy was pretty good at those games. I was terrible ha ha! Liz was pretty good, although in her efforts to keep from saying "the", she sounded like a foreigner trying to speak English ha ha!

Oh Tash. Hoot.

Going on a walk.

 Yodelehihoooo

It wasn't windy, the skies were blue, and the temperature was actually quite nice!

 Pretty good stuff.

We went on a hike up the hill.

Wes was a fan of the ninja poses. I took 10 pictures, and each one has him changing to a different ninja pose ha ha!

Max is taking after Wesley in his random rests.

On the walk back down, Tucker wanted to hold Tasha's hand and Wes wanted to hold Dewy's hand, it was so cute!

It was an AWESOME vacation. The food was amazing, the sights were jaw-dropping, and the games were a hoot. Thanks for letting Liz and I come enjoy Europe with you Hansen Family!
